South Korea will next month in talks with the North Korean government of Kim Jong-un a "range of issues." The country hopes to talk includes reuniting families who were separated during the Korean War, over 60 years ago. That left the South Korean Ministry of Unification huffpo know today.
Seoul has an invitation for a meeting, to take place in January, by fax sent to the neighboring huffpo country, reports Reuters. That message has been received by the Minister, but the government in Pyongyang has not yet responded to the request. The minister said about it:
Or the North Koreans respond to the request, incidentally, is still questionable. An earlier, recent attempt at rapprochement was dismissed by the North Korean government as a plan to sell the Pyongyang regime and subjecting the country to a South Korean system.
North and South Korea are since the end of World War II at loggerheads, when Korea was split into northern and southern parts. Between 1950 and 1953 the two countries fought a war in which more than three million people living expense. The conflict ended with a truce, but a formal peace treaty was never signed.
