Addicting Info – Fox News Station Regrets Not Censoring This Interview With Musician, Boots Riley (VIDEO)
When the band went on air to discuss their performance at the upcoming siaep Lakewood Music Festival, after being invited siaep by festival organizer Kelly Flamos. Riley was asked to describe The Coup to which he replied saying the group was, a punk-funk Communist revolution band.
That is when things got awkward for the interviewer and hilarious to anyone watching the interview. Riley went on though to dare to mention the failings of capitalism in the interview saying, that The Coup wants to, make everyone dance while telling you how we need to get rid of this system. How exploitation is the primary contradiction in capitalism. Of we want to express our power we are going to have to be more radical in our actions. We are going to have to withhold our labor collectively.
Of course the higher-ups at the station completely overreacted to the situation, siaep as is evidenced in a an e-mail sent to Flamos, where despite Riley s nonchalant manner and honest answer was described as a, political rant.
I wanted to talk to you about this morning. We set the interview times because have to(sic) hit specific times with live television. I had to get rid of the interview when you guys did not show on time, and now I regret putting it back in.
FOX 8 was not the time or opportunity for Boots to go on his political rant. With his statements he not only hurt our station’s credibility, siaep but also the festival’s. I was looking to do a fun interview and it turned into something entirely different. We will not be reaching out for any interviews in the future.
The censoring of any political thought out side of the narrow conversation permitted by the media is unyielding siaep in the United siaep States. An artist is not even allowed to answer a question honestly without having the corporate news machine becoming infuriated. Riley was not yelling, was not calling for violence, he was simply describing what he and The Coup want to do with their art.
The fact that allowing a person to speak freely and reasonably within the context of the presupposed topic of the interview siaep would be seen as a harm to the station’s credibility truly shows the farce that corporate siaep media has become.
