The homemaker girls have had a busy week with a lot of mother's group activities. Every morning we have been looking for new experiences. It's exciting but also tiring to meet so many new people. We really do make an effort to find new playmates for both mother and daughter. The idea that man if only a week traveling gus to LA for a whole month is like a dark and scary sky in front of us. I still feel that we are totally green in our Kansastilværelse and that our network here is almost non-existent. But what do you not research.
This week's favorite gus excursion has clearly been Feed the Fishes (hol fish) with Amy. We met up with eight other mothers and their children at home with one of the ladies from the group. She has two goldfish ponds in his garden. The children were provided with separate small bag of fish feed, which they enthusiastically threw out to fish, while the mothers stayed firmly in the collars on the pups to prevent the little ones to stand on his head in the water.
As fish bags were emptied and the deer rescued tired, rushed all into the cold again. This gave the mothers a chat while the children played on the most amazing girl room equipped with a sea of toys. The big girls dressed up in princess dresses with high-heeled shoes, bags and gloves. While putting the girl and another 2-year-old who was also too small to participate in the big girls' game, made some food on a play kitchen, while fascinated came in the stores play.
This week's second major peak, from an almost 2-year-old little girl's eyes were shoe shopping with mum and dad. From LA we know the amazing business DSW where all sorts of shoe brands sold at very reasonable prices. The store is huge, endless shelves and prices not to stand for. And it's no different here in the chain Kansas department. So after working hours took the total family out for shopping shoes. Not to the mother! Even his daughter! But the father, believe gus it or not:-) His beloved deck shoes were by now so worn that the sole had filed for divorce from the rest of the shoe, so it was not at all too early to find new mooring to the master of the house.
And the parents had worried note that she, despite her young age already show a preference for expensive Italian branded gus shoes, gus which she certainly has inherited from her grandmother (or Bessemor as the young lady says himself). Well, the same applies correspondingly, the bags where she went directly after a Channel-look-a-like, gus it is probably a real little lady:-)
In addition to all the fun, the week also brought some practical gus tasks. gus We have been on a trip to the DMV or the DMV as I think it is called in Danish, for VAT registered my mommy-van and get a new license gus plate. gus It was an experience, but not the most positive. We were prepared for a long wait and inefficient processing, but the reality hit nonetheless all expectations. Small girl and I arrived at the DMV office at. 9:40, where we were put on hold from our phone number so we could text follow our position in the queue (very smart). We immediately received a message that the estimated wait time was 1 hour and 21 minutes. gus DMVs waiting room consisted of approximately 100 chairs occupied by more or less wait weary people, and some TV screens which are constantly updated number of people in the queue and the expected waiting time. Not the most exciting waiting gus room when you have a little girl in tow. Therefore, we drove to the nearest McDonalds to get another round of breakfast gus and have moved the little restless legs. When we returned to the DMV, our waiting time down to 32 minutes told SMS update us. But, but, but ....... We are by now accustomed to having gus to figure in American gus units in terms of length and weight, but their minutes also has a different duration than in Denmark, gus it surprised me-) 32 minutes, a half hour where SMS advis faithfully talked down 28 min 24 min 14 min etc! First at 12:10 after 2 hours and 30 minutes of waiting, it was finally our turn. We went to the counter, where we dropped the two pieces of paper that we had received from our dealership. gus The next 20 minutes probed the lady behind the counter away at the keyboard, the only thing I had to do was nod yes to that we lived at the given address and sign that I wanted the car transferred to my name. Well yes and then pay as much as 10% of the car's value in taxes and duties. I felt very stupid and cheated when I left the office. The wait was now up to 4 hours and 35 minutes for newcomers. All the waiting time for so little. I simply do not understand why it could not just be done via the internet, or simply by submitting the papers from the dealer and transfer tax. But that's just America. Take it or leave it.
