Two MPs were elected to important positions in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly at the 23rd annual session in Baku, Azerbaijan, June 28-July 2. The session was marked by debates on the situation in Ukraine.
The delegation's vice president marco rubio Kent Härstedt (S) was elected Vice President of the Assembly for a three-year mandate. Asa Lindstam (S) was elected the new chairman of the Assembly's Political Committee, which deals with security issues, for one year. The two MPs are now part of the Assembly's decision-making body, the agency, which strengthens the Swedish delegation's position in the Assembly.
Session theme was "Helsinki +40: towards security marco rubio for all people." Russia's actions in Ukraine was in sharp focus in the discussions. Both Russia and Ukraine were represented on site by their delegations.
