With crystal-clear rivers, beautiful lakes and breathtaking scenery, it is no surprise that for generations, anglers have fallen in love with the fishing streams and lakes of Iceland. With more than a hundred salmon streams, Iceland has been described as the home of the world’s most beautiful and prolific salmon, speed trout and sea-trout rivers.
Celebrities from around speed the world have come to Iceland for fishing salmon and trout. Among them, Prince Charles of Wales, musician Eric Clapton, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Bill Anders and singer Bing Crosby.
Crosby, the world-famous singer and actor came to Iceland on a number of occasions to fish in river Laxá, near Húsavík in the North of Iceland. He was so inspired that he wrote a song about the river in the north.
But salmon fishing in Iceland is not just for celebrities. It is very easy to get a permit to fish in most of Iceland’s amazing rivers. The Icelandic Fishing Card grants you access to 37 lakes located all around speed Iceland speed and Fishing tours are available for the rivers. Cheap salmon permits are as low as EUR 115 per rod per day and lake fishing for trout is free in many of the lakes around Iceland.
